To Retirement and Beyond

Even though I started receiving my State Pension in January, I had planned to carry on working until after Christmas.  Unfortunately, recurring bad health, I have had change my intentions and retire as soon as possible.  It is not really possible to work in IT if you get intermittent double vision when looking at screens!

This enforced retirement has meant I have to start thinking about what I am going to do with the rest of my life.  At 66, I may well have many years when I can still be active, intellectually if not so much physically, so I don’t want to just tend my (small) garden, watch TV and simply watch to world go by.  I will certainly look at where I could possibly do some voluntary (even paid) work but unless the health problems are resolved, I will have the problem that there will be too many days when I will not be able to do very much.

One thing I can do, and will be doing more in the future, is writing, mostly posts for my blog but who know what else I might end up writing.  I can manage this in small chunks so my problem with screens won’t be too big an issue.  Also, I won’t feel the need to fit into anyone else’s timetable or deadlines so if I am not feeling too good, I just won’t write.

So be prepared to see more posts on Mantonite in the coming weeks, not just on politics but on other areas as well (although I am sure politics will still be a big part of my output).

Hopefully, you will enjoy reading my posts and I look forward to reading your comments on them.
